Negative Professional Statements of Penitentiary System Officers with Different Levels of Irrational Thinking

Introduction. The aim is to determine the differences in professional statements of penitentiary system officers with different levels of irrational thinking. Materials and Methods. The authors employed testing, content analysis and methods of mathematical statistics. The study was conducted on the basis of Penal Colony No. 12 with special conditions of economic activity of Main Directorate of the Russian Federal Penitentiary System in Perm krai, with the participation of 90 officers of various departments aged from 20 to 50 years. Results and Discussion. Officers with a high level of irrational thinking more frequently demonstrate negative professional statements in the implementation of self-development, non-professional activities, personal life, which leads to the formation of professional destructions. Conclusions. Negative professional attitudes can have a significant impact on the quality of professional functions performed, contribute to the officers’ manifestation of professional destructions. For prevention and correction it is appropriate to reduce the degree of irrational thinking with the help of techniques and principles of rational-emotional behavioral therapy.
