Naming in next generation libraries

The article considered the features of naming in libraries that have been modernized within the framework of the federal project "Cultural Environment" of the national project "Culture". The results of a comparative analysis of 1051 model libraries names are presented in accordance with the naming classification proposed earlier by the author of the article (personalized, toponymic and conceptual). The characteristic features of each of the naming directions are presented. It is noted that a smaller part of analyzed libraries has a numbered designation.The author showed that personalized naming specific of libraries is the use of the famous writers names, as well as the perpetuation of figures who were prominent representatives of local culture. In the case of toponymic naming it is substantiated the relation of the name with the territory where the library is located. Conceptual naming is characterized by a reflection of the priority direction of activity or the status of the library, as well as by associative ideas about it, which are based on a certain image.Identical names of model libraries are revealed, current trends in each direction of naming are demonstrated. It is concluded that the name is one of the most important things in the positioning of the cultural institution.
