Non-canonical icons in modern orthodox culture of Russia

The article is devoted to the study of the non-canonical Orthodox icon on the basis of cultural studies approach. The author comes to the conclusion that the non-canonical icon has the following socio-cultural meanings: people's representation of honoring the people who have not passed the Church canonization; fixation of significant social problems: demographic, environmental, military-terrorist ones, etc.; clarification of actual iconographic subjects.
