The purpose of this study was the evaluation of modulating effects of prostaglandin E 1 on the adaptation response during the pharmacological test and on the status of the patients who were prepared for surgery. 67patients were studied. During the pharmacological test (which implied single use of the drug) we analyzed the changes of cardiac rhythm, of cortisol level, free myoglobin level, velocity of blood flow according to Doppler sonography. The drug increased tissue perfusion and reduced excessive sympathetic and hormonal response. Thus it may improve surgery outcomes.
