Some aspects of modern stage in the development of higher education in the Chinese People’s Republic

The article attempts to single out the most important milestones in the development of science and education in the CPR, showing the specifics of the present stage in the evolution of this sphere. As the aggregate strength of the Chinese state increases, the government puts forward more and more ambitious aims for the academic and university science and education field, which corresponds to China's ambitions to turn from a state with a large in absolute volume sphere of science and education to a powerful scientific and technological country. The CPR is already a leader in many indicators of scientific and technical activities, in figures of financing R & D and a system of education, but in the academic community within China there are intensive discussions concerning the effectiveness of the undertaken methods to further increase the scientific and educational potential of the country.
