Certain compatibility possibilities of verbs in the role of predicates in sentences with temporal modifiers

The author of the article analyzes sentences with verb predicates complemented with temporal modifiers. The study presents sentences with the determinative connection between the predicate and modifier, as well as examples with adjacent connection with a verbal predicate. Special attention is given to the semantics of the verb functioning as a predicate, for this is what predetermines valence (the necessary/ unnecessary presence of a temporal modifier in the sentence). The study determines the prevalence of cases in which the basis of the sentence with a predicate verb is complemented with the help of determinative connection. The number of examples of complementing the basis with temporal specifiers with the help of adjacent connection is insignificant. This is caused both by the semantics of the verb in the role of the predicate and the “surroundings” of the sentence (temporal modifier). This is the factor which determines the compatibility potential of a verb lexeme.
