German technical texts: characteristics and problems of translation

In this article the author analyses both the general specificity of technical texts and their particularities within German. Furthermore, it identifies the key problems and challenges faced by the translator in the process of translating German technical texts. Particular attention is paid to German technical terminology, in particular its complexity and the process of its formation through a number of methods and techniques.
