Unusual n-alkylation of quinazolin-4(3H)-one with 2-benzoylchloroacetanilide

The alkylation of quinazoline-4(3H)-one with 2-benzoylchloroacetanilide in anhydrous DMF at a temperature of 80-90 °C in the presence of potassium carbonate is accompanied by cyclization and leads to the formation of the quinazoline derivative containing the quinolone cycle as a substitute with the yield of 78 %.
