The work is devoted to the study of immunity as a legal category. A comparative legal analysis of the scientific positions of scientists who have made attempts to reveal the content of the concept of ‘immunity’ has been carried out. The legal positions of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation were studied, which also does not give a definition in its acts, limiting itself to deriving individual signs of immunity, which together give a certain idea of the purpose and functions of this legal category. It is concluded that immunity is a multifaceted concept. Its content depends primarily on the object in relation to which it is used. Such objects, for example, can be a person, representatives of the authorities, the territory of the state, etc. The author's definition of legal immunity is formulated.
Inviolability of the person, inviolability of the president, inviolability of the deputy, inviolability of the territory
