The article is devoted to the analysis of human capital in the context of the problem of social inequality. The fundamental problem of social inequality accompanies the development of society at any stage of its existence, affecting, among other things, such an important element of the socio-economic system as human capital. In common with other economic assets and resources, one of its properties is the unequal accumulation of quantity and quality among different holders, which is reflected in the inequality of individuals on this aspect. Consideration of the formation processes and exploitation of this resource reveals the effects of inequalities at each stage of its development. The reasons that differentiate individuals in terms of the amount and quality of human capital are different access to quality education, different investment potential of families, labor market position, and opportunities to participate in lifelong learning
