Unfinished artwork as a research problem

Бесплатный доступ

The article reveals the problems of the unfinished artworks. The methodological principle is the comparison of philosophical-aesthetic, literary and art criticism approaches. The author analyzes the theoretical basis for the definition of the concepts of “open/unfinished”, reviews the theoretical related definitions as “non-finito”, “openness”, “completeness”, “perfection”, “integrity”, “embodiment”. Attention is paid to the role of technology in determining the characteristics of completeness of an artwork. An unfinished artwork is regarded as “an interrupted”, as a visual existential metaphor and as a creative resource. The author formulates the idea of the history of art as the history of the non-become.
