Illegal logging of forest plants: a criminological analysis of law enforcement practice

The purpose of this article is a criminological analysis of the law enforcement practice of bringing to criminal responsibility for illegal logging of forest plantations. The article reveals an important topical issue about what the main directions of criminal policy and the peculiarities of bringing criminal responsibility for this criminal act have developed today in law enforcement practice in Russia. The article analyzes in detail the issues of determination of the specified environmental crime. The authors investigate the consequences and countermeasures. Particular attention is paid to the study of the impact of public environmental monitoring in the mechanism of countering illegal logging of forest plantations. In conclusion, the authors dwell upon the effectiveness of the proposed measures to counter illegal logging of forest plantations.
