The article gives a short description of title characters of Murphy by S.Beckett and Zarathustra by F.Nietzshe. In spite of their essential difference as characters both heroes have such common features as being hermetically sealed against the outer world, negative perception of the progress idea, preference of inner freedom and independence to demands of human morality which proves the affinity of artistic worlds by both authors.
