Nicholas Vladimirovich Malicky: last years of the service of the science of our country

The article analyzes the scientific activity of the researcher of Byzantine and Old Russian art N. V. Malitsky (1881-1938). The author pays primary attention to the last years of the scientist’s life. This period (late 1920s-1930s) is practically not covered in the specialized literature. The article uses archival materials from the Departmental Archive of the Russian Museum and the Scientific Archive of the Institute of the History of Material Culture. For the first time, information is provided about the participation of N. V. Malitsky in the preparation of the exposition of Old Russian art at the Russian Museum. The issue of the changed concept of exhibiting monuments of Old Russian art in the 1930s is touched upon, forcing scientists of the old school to follow new ideological guidelines in their activities.
