"New woman" in the press of the first half of the 1920s in the context of inter-age gender relations

The article presents the results of an analys of inter-age gender relations in the female press of the early XX century using the content analysis method. 98 conflict situations of the “old-young” confrontation were analyzed. It was revealed that the personification of a positive hero is a young woman, whose image is contrasted with the image of a man of any age and an old woman. The image of an old person represents traditionally patriarchal gender perceptions, the image of a young woman represents egalitarian gender perceptions.
