New interpretation of iurodstvo

The article presents new interpretation of iurodstvo (holy foolery) in the framework of its initial definition and modern judgment. The analysis of iurodstvo interpretations in Russian dictionaries is carried out. It is noted that in contemporary philosophy and science it is relevant to justify the features of religious and nonreligious iurodstvo. The author advances the thought that iurodstvo in its ontological meaning obviously tolerates specific "uniform dialectics of mind and madness" in the sphere of awareness. The author believes there is a need to develop a broader idea of iurodstvo as a special state of consciousness and expression of human spirit in a peculiar compound of belief and knowledge, religion and science, mind and madness.
