The review of the monograph by the authors Nezhenets N. I., Nezhenets I. N. "Essays on Russian Literature of the XIX XX centuries" is a characterization of the inner semantic unity of this work. According to the authors of the monograph, in the Russian literary classics the main issues of human existence goodness, beauty, feat and holiness, the struggle of life and death are solved at the level of the ancient Greek epic and the classical literary tradition coming from Homer. The monograph gives a new reading of Pushkin's Eugene Onegin, Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov, Mikhail Sholokhov's The Quiet Don and other masterpieces of Russian literature. The authors managed to unite the masterpieces of Russian literature of the 19th century and Soviet literature of the 20th century on the basis of solving epic problems in the context of Russian life and by artistic means created by the geniuses of Russian literature.
