New reading practices in the context of the modern publishing system

The development of the domestic book publishing system is taking place in the context of changes in reader and publishing strategies, a reduction in the volume of reading and a decrease in its quality. Publishers are catering to increasingly individualized reader needs. Along with the traditional printed largecirculation book publishing, small circulation book publishing is developing, which includes various forms of alternative book publishing. Audiobooks, which allow you to combine reading with other activities, as well as publications, the most important component of which is visual, are becoming more and more widespread. Reduction of circulation, service, customization of the production process of printed products allows publishers to adapt to the new socio cultural situation. The article discusses the specific features of the reader’s practices of recent decades, the trends of their change and development, as well as the transformation of Russian readership.
