Cytopenic syndrome is a result of the failure of the bone marrow and the impact on it of a number of adverse factors and include anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, which can lead to life-threatening complications. The causes of cytopenia can be cancer, infections, some congenital, immune diseases and deficient conditions. In the etiology of cytopenias important role may play chronic stress, toxic effects of pharmacological drugs, and radiation damage to bone marrow cells. Very important to find out the cause and, if possible, eliminate it and also prescribe adequate therapy for effective correction of cytopenia. The main methods to correct cytopenic conditions are the use of replacement therapy with blood components or preparations that give a rapid therapeutic effect, as well as hemostimulating agents. In the article is shown our own experience in the use of transfusions of red blood cells, the appointment of erythropoietic stimulation therapy for anemic syndrome. In detail is described the issue of posttransfusion iron overload. In addition, literature data are presented on the use of thrombopoietin receptor agonists in complex therapy in patients with aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome
