New applications of intraoperative photodynamic diagnosis with laser spectroscopy in the diagnosis of prostate cancer (literature review)

Currently there are many methods of preoperative diagnostics of prostate carcinoma. However, none of those methods can give the exact stage of the disease in the preoperative period, which undoubtedly affects the intraoperative tactics of surgical treatment, the definition of the excision limits, subsequent treatment and prognosis. The method of photodynamic diagnostics can help in the intraoperative assessment of the status of surgical margins and the prostate bed, allowing the surgeon to interpret the picture during the operation objectively rather than subjectively.
