New high oleic variety of confectionary sunflower Zhasmin

Бесплатный доступ

Large-seeded early maturing variety of confectionery sunflower Zhasmin (elite number 857) was developed as a part of a breeding and genetic pro-gram for obtaining forms with modified fatty acid composition of oil. The high-oleic sunflower variety Kruiz was used as a donor of high oleic content and the confectionery variety Oreshek was used as a recipient. The use of a consistent set of hybridization methods and group cross-pollination of the best biotypes with selection of high oleic seed kernels at all stages of the breeding process allowed us to obtain families with high homozygosity for the dominant gene Ol. The main difference of the isolated forms from other varie-ties of the confectionery group is the high content of oleic acid in seed oil – not less than 85%.
