The article examines the issue of the relationship between morality and culture in the context of the Russian philosophical tradition. An analysis of both individual authors and entire directions indicates that the moral principle is a priority for various types of cultural practice. Morality is understood not as a regulator of behavior or an ethical code, but as a living principle striving for the truth and truth of life. In this context, special attention is paid to the constructions of V. S. Soloviev, who created autonomous ethics in Russia, as well as to the moral quest of Russian writers, who inspired not only literature and philosophy, but the entire culture as a whole, with a striving for absolute goodness.
