The research discusses the current trends in the development of cultural knowledge, the possibilities of an interdisciplinary approach to studying the philosophical problems in this field. The relevance of the research is determined by the need for an in-depth analysis of cultural studies as a science, the causes of various processes in society, the methods of their recognition. The question of their philosophical understanding has been increasingly raised against the background of the active development of the social and human sciences in the 20th - early 21st centuries. The emphasis on the theory of the subject of cultural studies as a science becomes obvious. These emphases are examined based on the principles of modern theories of knowledge and logic. The author draws attention to the specific nature of historical, social and cultural, and methodological analysis of the relationship between cultural studies and philosophy. It becomes possible to give a true scientific definition of the object and subject of cultural studies at a higher level, at the philosophical and general theoretical levels, in terms of its relationships, from an interdisciplinary perspective. The author concludes that several schools of thought affect the methodological approaches to solving the problems of cultural studies. The categories and concepts of cultural studies reveal the new patterns of human life and activities in culture by means of philosophical knowledge and a set of fundamental and applied natural and social sciences. While reflecting the most common aspects of objective communication and development of society, philosophy targets thinking; therefore, it is a conceptual basis for the examination of scientific knowledge in cultural studies.
