On category of temporality in the French historical texts

The article means to highlight the problem of temporality through the implementation of grammatical category of tense in French historical texts and to determine the degree of interchangeability of tenses. The study is based on the exploration of speech strategies of the authors of the texts. Particular attention is drawn to the difference in usage of tenses in French historical texts and in traditional grammar. Based on the analysis of grammatical categories of aspect and tense the possibility of presenting historical material from various points of view is determined.
