Conjuctionalization in modern Russian on the example of «po idee» («in theory») word form

The article reviews the process of conjuctionalization in modern Russian language on the example of the word form “po idee” (“in theory”). This unit is separated from the noun “idea” and due to the process of lexicalization has got new functions and changes in semantics. It can function as a text clip (when it connects parts of a text) or it can be a part of a complex conjunction in the construction “po idee” X, sed Y. The analysis is based on the material provided by verbal subcorpus and Subcorpus newspapers of the Russian National Corpus. Usage of these sources is caused by the aim to describe processes that happen in modern Russian language, both in written and verbal speech. The research shows that modal words can function as an analogue of conjunction in a text and can create specific relations between parts of texts or sentences.
