The article deals with the problem of developing a methodology of criteria and normative indicators of the readiness of cadets of military universities to work in extreme combat conditions. Based on the analysis of existing methods in sports pedagogy for determining indicators and criteria of various levels of preparedness, the author came to the conclusion that as external criteria for checking the readiness of cadets for activities in extreme conditions, it is advisable to use such characteristics as indicators of success in performing actions (techniques) and the dynamics of indirect indicators of individual performance. Since this issue is debatable, the author hopes to draw the attention of military educators and psychologists to solving the problem of developing optimal criteria for the readiness of cadets of military universities to act in extreme conditions.
