On the linguistic and cultural specifics of oikodomonyms (the example of UK pub names)

The purpose of the study: to correlate linguistic phenomena with cultural phenomena and to show their interdependence in the context of “the language as a cultural phenomenon” approach. The authors analyze the space of onomastic vocabulary using the example of UK pub names. Research objective: to reveal the specifics of oikodomonyms as units of extralinguistic knowledge. The authors use descriptive and correlation methods of research. It is shown that oikodomonyms contain information about the peculiarities of the mentality of the language community.
