The article deals with the experience of describing the semantic signs based on the popular work “The system of the characters of the Russian fairy tale” by E.S. Novik defining “individual status” of the characters of the Kalmyk fairy tales from the repertoire of khoshuts that live in Sarpa of the Ketchenerovky district, in Bergin and Tsagan-Aman of the Yustinsky district in the Republic of Kalmykia.
