On the history of the first Russian grammar book written in Italian

The article deals with the history of the first Russian language courses taught at three Italian institutions. A review of different XIXth century Russian and European sources is conducted. The study focuses on the influence of F. Buslaev’s works and ideas on Slavic languages’ teaching practice, including Russian. The goal of the research is to reveal the ties between Russian language courses taught at Italian institutions and the first publication of the Russian grammar book written in Italian and published on the territory of the Russian empire. This scientific paper is based on the XIXth century sources and archive documents. The documents provide an overview of the specifics of the Russian language teaching practice. The materials also reveal interesting details on the teaching practice development in Italian institutions of that time.
