On the problem of determining an interpreter's competence in criminal proceedings

The article is devoted to the problem of determining an interpreter’s competence in criminal proceedings. Its solution is really complicated due to the absence of a translator's competence definition in the legislation. It is noted that the assignment of the translator's competence definition to the persons, carrying out the proceedings in the criminal case, is not correct. The need for closer cooperation of law enforcement and judicial bodies with translation organizations that maintain a register of translators has been emphasized in the article.
