The article deals with some problems of the inquiry in an abbreviated form. The author considers the statistical reporting data of the Federal Bailiffs Service of Russia. The legal regulations of the criminal procedural law are analysed. It is concluded that it is necessary to reform the legislation regulating preliminary investigation.
