In the article the author demonstrates the difference between the external «studies» and the internal «comprehension» of the artistic text on the example of the Pushikin’s masterpiece. The german didactic pictures on the walls of the station master’s home are by no means the adequate analogue of the Parable of the Prodigal Son, but rather its moralistic simplification. In his artistic intuition Pushkin follows the evangelical logic of the wonder, and not the legalistic logic of the german pictures. The heroine is «dying» in her sole function of being just a daughter to the station master, but at the same time is «resurrecting» as the person who loves and being loved by others. In the prosaic world there is a place for love, which can be compared to a wonder – so is the deep meaning of the Pushikn’s text.
