On the correspondence between symbolist drama and nature of performing art

The article touches upon the problem of correspondence between symbolist drama and the nature of performing art arising from the fact that it is impossible to tell for certain if symbolist drama is meant for staging. The author aims to study the above mentioned discrepancy analyzing the essence of drama and theatrical art and concludes that symbolist drama is a paradoxical phenomenon beyond the scope of theatrical works presenting a specific way of deciphering cultural codes.
