Earthly court and heavenly court in 18th century Russian comedy

This article studies the semantics and poetics of appeal to God’s Court which creates certain contextual meaning in satirical comedies devoted to revealing the truth about court injustice and heartless court officials. The analysis is based on the plays by D.I. Fonvizin, N.R. Sudovshchikov, and V.V. Kapnist. Research methods : holistic philological analysis of a literary text.
