Historical sound recordings in the oldest European Phonogram-archives always attract the researchers’ interest. The sound archives of Vienna and Berlin, which were created at the end of the XIX - beginning of the ХХ centuries contain very rich linguistic and folklore materials from all over the world, including Russian materials. For Russian researchers the recordings of Russian prisoners made during the First World War in prisoner-of-war camps on the German, Austrian and Hungarian territory are of a great value. Now in Berlin and Vienna they prepare the publication of these unique and invaluable materials which soon will be available for all interested persons.
