The research describes the key characteristics of modern human existence in science- and technology-related society. The emphasis is placed on the information and communication aspect of contemporary society having a network structure. There is an increased dependence of a person on a sociocultural reality arranged by technology. The main objective of technology is to transform the external world in accordance with human goals. Technical conversion is always of external nature. As a consequence, the explicated and technology-induced opportunities make people living in the technology-related sociocultural environment focus on the appropriate mode of their being. The development level of technology, in particular information technology, allows one to ensure the sustainability of the social system without relying on human beings. This is possible due to the substitution of human qualities with technical facilities, which, in the author’s opinion, can lead to their complete loss.
