The article examines the problem of devaluation of the meaning of things (artifacts) that shape our everyday life, in its anthropological aspect, and analyzes the possible causes and consequences of this process. The inextricable connection between things and the realm of subjectivity is postulated, and it is shown that questions related to the realm of “techne” are not exclusively technical, but are primarily questions about the human being. The intermediate position of the individual between nature and the material world is fixed, and questions of the mutual influence of human beings and things as well as the transformation from a “human-commodity state to a “human-resource” state are touched upon. Using the example of sacrifice inherent in archaic societies, it shows why the desire to destroy the world of things can be seen as a human desire to avoid self-depreciation. The thesis of the need to return things to their ontological status and to introduce the presumption of value as a civilizational paradigm is put forward.
