Ensuring traffic safety at pedestrian crossings on urban roads in Guinea

The assessment and identification of hazards at pedestrian crossings has revealed significant safety issues that require immediate attention in many countries around the world, and Guinea is no exception. A multifaceted approach is needed to address this problem. With this in mind, this article examines opportunities and measures for pedestrian safety at land crossings in urban Guinea. Special attention is given to the causes and factors that contribute to pedestrian accidents on Guinea's roads. In addition, attributes are classified according to their importance, which should be taken into account in the design and organisation of pedestrian crossings. Particular emphasis is placed on best and effective methods of preventing pedestrian crossing accidents, which include the use of raised zebra crossings and narrowing the road before the crossing.
