This article analyzes the methodological foundations of the conceptual space of education, in particular an important section of pedagogy - didactics; The main scientic approaches to understanding the structural components of the didactic system are revealed. The problem areas of «didactics» are outlined on the basis of comparative analysis of scientic approaches. To substantiate the methodological constructs of modern didactics, a deep analysis of the conceptual space of the phenomenon under investigation was carried out. The genesis of the concept of a didactic system is presented from the point of view of various approaches with the separation of the component composition. In the context of historical and pedagogical knowledge, the successive stages in the formation and development of a particular category have been examined and justied.
