This article explores the images of heroes in Chinese and Russian proverbs. Proverbs are chosen as research material because they reflect folk culture. In Chinese, 谚语 (proverb) is an important part of Chinese linguistic culture and succinctly expresses a widely held opinion among the people. Most proverbs reflect the life and practical experience of people and are usually transmitted orally. In Russian, a proverb is a small form of folk poetry, dressed in a short, rhythmic saying that carries a generalized thought, conclusion, allegory with a didactic nature. Therefore, proverbs in both Russian and Chinese include the culture of the nation, the values of these people and preserve the memory of the people. The purpose of the work is to identify the features of the image of a hero in Chinese and Russian linguistic cultures based on proverbs and sayings.
