The article deals with the specific features of the personification of the image of China in the lyrics of a great representative of the Silver Age, V.Ya. Bryusov. There is made a hypothesis that it was specific for the poet not only the Western attitude towards China that is a widespread point of view in the Russian literature studies but also an individual rethinking of the Chinese culture. There is analysed the row of the poems of V.Yu. Bryusov, fully or partly devoted to China and its symbols.
