The image of an illigitimate child in Victorian literature

The article analyses the image of an illegitimate child in the VictorianLiterature. The writers of the period gives the character of an illegitimatechild such quality as “weakness” (as we call it) of different kind. But, at thesame time, especially at the end of the 19th century, teaching the readers torespect everybody and to defend everybody’s right to happiness, they showhow an illegitimate child can overcome “weakness”.
