The image of Russia in the 1990s in historical memory of students of Krasnodar region

Historical memory tends to supplant images that are undesirable to the construction of a positive identity, and the 1990s is precisely such a problematic period, which appears in negative shades in modern narrative historical construction. However, today on the stage of history appears the new generation, which has different value orientations, which determines their special view of the past. Therefore, in the near future, it is probable that the image of the 1990s will be revised in the minds of today's youth. The author proposes to draw attention to the estimated background of the 1990s among young people of the Krasnodar Region and to determine how the student youth relates to the figures and events of the indicated period. The results of the conducted empirical research confirm that young people have a high potential for reassessing the image of the past. However, the perception of the 1990s differs among schoolchildren and students, which can lead to conflict situation in the event of historical memory restructuring.
