The article deals with the analysis of the secondary indirect nomination of the society in the modern Russian press. Based on 600 metaphors and phrasemes of the modern Russian press there is determined that the figurative nomination identifies the type of running the nation, the leading figures of the nations, the peculiarities of the economy and the mentality of the population.
