Formation of notions about god in Greek patristics

Бесплатный доступ

The present study is devoted to the question of the presence in Greek patristics of such an element of rational theology as a divine attribute (divine attributes). It has been shown that such a production is not inherent to the ancient Christian writings. The place and role of the divine attribute is occupied by the concept of God, which has a very special nature and functionality. The inner order and origin of this most important element of theological thought is traced, as a derivative of interaction with the divine, and not as the fruit of human rationality. Its functioning is subordinated to the dialectics of an unknowable essence and accessible energy, and the achievement is verified by religious experience. The concept receives consolidation and expression in a name of God, subordinated to the rules of distinction between apophatic and cataphatic statements.
