The approaches to the definition of the essence and spectrum of educative spaces in the German lands of the late Middle Ages and the beginning of Modern times (the 15th-the 18th centuries), presented in the German educational historiography of the 1990s-early 2010s, are considered. The author investigated approaches for determining the boundaries of educative spaces from the point of view of studying the density of educational institutions as a criterion, approaches from the point of view of the study of religious relations, administrative policy, connectivity of institutions through the relationship of teachers and students. The methodology of work with sources and view on them is shown, demonstrating the inevitable variability and plurality of educative spaces in one region and epoch.
