Schoolwide approach for educating world citizens

The article provides basic recommendations on a school-wide approach to the global citizenship education of students based on the results of the school committee`s work at Nazarbayev Intellectual School (NIS) in Ust-Kamenogorsk. As a result of the school`s self-study against the requirements of international standards, as well as the high assessment of the school`s global citizenship initiatives by the Council of International Schools, the committee identified four main approaches to educating world citizens in curricular and extracurricular activities. The whole school approach to educating world citizens includes embedding global citizenship values into school guiding statements, priorities and the whole school system.
