Social values: assessment and perception in the mass consciousness of the Dagestani population

Reform of any nature has opposite qualities and consequences, it is not always possible to predict the trajectory of their development. The article examines social values, their priority, relevance in the mass consciousness, and the functions performed in modern Dagestan society. Based on the conducted research, the respondents' understanding of the meaning of the phenomenon of freedom as an opportunity for personal self-realization without any restrictions was established. The public consciousness of the Dagestani population is dominated by the thesis that it is unacceptable to ignore moral principles in the process of achieving personal goals. Among the social values, the key ones for the respondents are family, a good profession, independence, the struggle for social justice and economically active behavior.
