The article discusses teaching higher educational institutions students such a method of conflict resolution as mediation. The reasons for the increased interest in mediation training are analyzed. The definitions of mediation in the works of Russian scientists are compared. The concepts of "mediation" and "linguistic and cultural mediation" are differentiated. The elaboration of the topic of teaching mediation to higher educational institutions students is presented. The competence-based approach in teaching mediation in universities is considered.
