Modern children live in a world covered by the processes of globalization and integration. Accordingly, there is an increase in the multinationality of children's groups in preschool educational organizations, the arrival of children from families with different national roots. Communication with representatives of other cultures can be difficult not only because of differences in the perception of the world, cultural characteristics, but also, first of all, because of the language barrier. The majority of children from migrant families entering a preschool educational institution do not speak Russian well. The situation is further complicated by the fact that many adults in such families themselves experience difficulties in the process of communication in Russian. In this regard, difficulties arise when children communicate with each other, when conducting pedagogical and speech therapy diagnostics, as well as when establishing contact with the child's family. All this requires specially organized work with such families and the creation of the conditions necessary for the successful adaptation of children from migrant families in a preschool educational institution. The article tells about the pedagogical project "Play and communicate!", aimed at teaching the Russian language to children of senior preschool age from families of migrants from the CIS countries in the joint activities of children in a kindergarten on the basis of game material. In addition, the authors of the article describe the stages and mechanisms for the implementation of the named project, forms of work with children and parents, and present the results of the implementation of this project. Systematic work in this direction will allow children from foreign-speaking families to master the Russian language at the level of free everyday communication.
